La Plata Business Association (LPBA) will once again host the 5th annual "Spring Shop La Plata" celebration on Saturday April 24, 2021. 

La Plata is one of Southern Maryland's small-town shopping and dining destinations for the spring with unique boutiques, authentic restaurants that serve locally sourced food, wine and craft beer, and outdoor activities. 

 

While our 2021 Shop La Plata may look a little different from our prior events, we hope shoppers will continue to recognize the importance of shopping locally.  

Shoppers can enter to win various giveaways throughout the day. They will need to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for more information. We will not be using printed passports this year.

This year is all about customizing Spring Shop La Plata to work for individual businesses while still promoting the spring event as a group. We will offer participation virtually, in-person shopping or both! 

In Person:
The Spring Shop La Plata in-person shopping event will be, Saturday, April 24 from 10am to 5pm. At this time we cannot provide any outdoor activities that would require a permit. Tents up to 200 square feet (i.e. pop-up tents) are allowed by the Town without a permit at any time. We welcome you to set up outdoors.

We will run customized promotions via Social Media to allow shoppers to shop at their convenience. More details to follow.
 
Virtually:
We will set up a store-front on our LPBA website which will provide shoppers with a one-stop landing page that links them directly to your businesses online ordering portal.

 

NEW!! We will also publish a Spring Shop La Plata electronic booklet. To be included, you must submit an ad that is 8.5" wide x 5.5" high along with the website or social media page you would like it linked to. Readers will be able to click on the ads and then be directed to your landing page. 

We will run customized promotions via Social Media.

Both:
We invite you to participate both in-person and virtually!

Participation Guidelines:

  • Applications must be submitted by April 10, 2021 for consideration.

  • Please do not allow vendors to set-up inside or outside of your business on this day, unless they are an active LPBA member you are teaming up with. Please notify us if applicable.

  • You must observe all of the State of Maryland COVID-19 Social Distancing and occupancy  mandates for your business.

  • As a licensed retailer in the state of MD, you are responsible for reporting applicable sales taxes.

  • The La Plata Business Association and its organizers are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.

  • Once an applicant receives confirmation of approval, NO refund will be given.

  • Please email your businesses logo and booklet ad to Stacy at hello@discoversouthernmaryland.com for digital and print promotional ads. (If you participated in the Fall 2020 Shop Small event and your logo has not changed, you do not need to resubmit your logo, just submit the booklet ad)

  • After your form is submitted, you will receive an invoice to pay the participation fee.
