La Plata ... Population Friendly

Firmly rooted in the proud history of its forefathers, and zealous conservators of the land that brought them here - La Plata is a town, and a people, built from the ground up.

Perhaps the most compelling reasons to choose La Plata are its people. Open-minded yet grounded in a tradition of community spirit, they enjoy a village-like lifestyle, and reach out to each other to lend a helping hand. La Plata ... population friendly.

Life is good here. La Plata residents enjoy a pace of life that still makes crossing the street to greet a friend important. It is a town that reflects the people who make it great - then and now. Firmly rooted in the ethics and history of its forefathers, and zealous conservators of the land that brought them here ... La Plata is a town, and a people, built from the ground up.

To La Plata's west are historic Charles County sites such as Port Tobacco and a vast scenic countryside. To its east are rolling hills, new communities, Amish farms, open-air markets and craft stores. The south offers outstanding seafood restaurants, waterfront communities and a route to Richmond, while the north brings the shopping and culture of Washington and Baltimore within an easy drive.

When you're ready to get off the fast lane, it's time to hit the ground biking on some of the most scenic trails in Maryland. Although Charles County is among the fastest growing areas in the capitol region, it still has an emphasis on nature and ecological preservation.  With over 150 miles of scenic shoreline, and an abundance of trees and unspoiled land, you can share the view with over 300 species of birds.  And, parks in and around La Plata offer nature enthusiasts plenty of fishing, boating, hiking and picnicking.

La Plata offers a wide variety of housing options that range in style, size, price and amenities.  New home communities are coming online while existing neighborhoods are expanding to accommodate area growth.  Re-locating businesses will find that, along with its delightful lifestyle, La Plata's housing market makes it an ideal place to call home.

For growing families or growing businesses, the La Plata campus of the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) provides outstanding programs that speak to the evolving educational needs of people today.  Recognizing that learning is a lifelong investment, CSM offers sound academic criteria that support a spectrum of occupational interests and ages.

A community of people that knows the true meaning of neighborhood, a town rich with history and ready for the future, nature at its best, and education at its finest ...

Everything's here.
All we need is you.
